In one of the most disturbing case to come to light from West Bengal’s Bagdogra in Siliguri, a man was allegedly killed and beheaded. The Bagdogra police came across the crime on Tuesday.

Police in Bagdogra, West Bengal, arrested five people, including the wife and her alleged lover Sudip Pal, for the murder and beheading of Bihar resident Imam, a faith healer, reportedly stemming from an extramarital affair.
The police claimed to solve the case within 48 hours and arrested five people that included the victim’s wife and her alleged lover.
Informing that the victim identified as Imam – was a resident of Bihar’s Kishanganj district and reportedly used to work as a traditional faith healer, it is also locally known as ojha.
Headless Body Found in Tea Garden
It was on Tuesday that the headless body was discovered in the no. 9 section of Haskowa Tea Garden, which falls under the jurisdiction of Bagdogra police station. His family was subsequently informed, and they confirmed his identity at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital.
Wife and Alleged Lover Among Five Arrested
As the police investigation began, police alleged that this could be a matter of an extramarital affair. In the connection, five people have been arrested identified as – Tumpa Gosh alias Mamina Begum, her alleged lover Sudip Pal, Sudip’s nephews Bapi Pal and Nitai Pal and their friend Kaushik Nath. Sudip, a resident of Chandal Jote in Goshaipur, Bagdogra, also reportedly works as an ojha. Police said he is married and has two sons.
Extramarital Affair Allegedly Led to Murder Plot
According to the investigation, the victim- Imam and his wife – both worked as a traditional faith healers. The cops alleged that Monina had been in a relationship with Sudip for a long time. Investigators suspect that the two wanted to live together and planned to kill Imam.
Police believe Imam was deliberately lured to Haskhowa, where the group allegedly attacked him.
Victim Allegedly Killed and Beheaded
The police allege that Imam’s throat was slit before he was beheaded. The identity card recovered from the body helped the cops go ahead with the investigation with clues that took them to the victim’s family.
Police have not yet disclosed whether the victim’s severed head has been recovered.
