As Delhi Police took climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to hospital to end his fast, his wife Gitanjali J Angmo has urged doctors at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital not to administer any oral or intravenous treatment to her husband without the consent of his family.

In a post on X, Angmo wrote, “I am at Safdarjung hospital in Delhi where @Wangchuk66 has been admitted. Nothing should be administered to him orally or intravenous without taking consent from me, his family and his doctors who have been monitoring his health for the past 20 days.”

Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi Police after a 20-day hunger strike over exam irregularities; his wife requested consent for any medical treatment, citing High Court orders and his health.

Nothing Should Be Administered Without Our Consent Sonam Wangchuk s Wife Tells to Doctors

Sonam Wangchuk was removed from the protesting site at Jantar Mantar on Saturday morning by Delhi Police amid sloganeering from the supporters of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP).

The activist was on indefinite hunger strike demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in national-level examinations, including the NEET paper leak controversy.

Wangchuk is conscious, his vital parameters are stable, and he has been admitted to the emergency ward under medical supervision, according to a report in ANI.

This is very very serious! Nothing should be administered to Sonam sir without his and the family’s consent. https://t.co/RlAJ744aBs

After taking Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar, the Delhi Police said he has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care as per orders of Delhi High Court and on expert medical advice amid his deteriorating health condition.

The statement said, “Police took maximum restraint and undertook the exercise safely. We request the protestors at Jantar Mantar to peacefully vacate the place at the earliest.”

Meanwhile, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has continued to slammed the Delhi Police for taking away Sonam Wangchuk. Speaking to IANS, he said, “The cowardly act carried out by RSS goons in police uniforms of dragging Sonam sir away, abusing him, and taking him from here will not end this movement…”

He further said that the protest will continue despite the climate activist being taken to the hospital.

Dipke added, “The protest will continue. It is very shameful. Like thieves and goons, the Delhi Police hid and dragged him (Sonam Wangchuk) away. This is not the Delhi Police; these are RSS goons. They came secretly and, like thieves, covered Sonam Sir with a sheet, hid him, and dragged him away, just like criminals or the mafia kidnap people. Despite that, our protest will continue. The Delhi Police also beat me up and stopped me from reaching Jantar Mantar. I was beaten, dragged on the road, and they said, ‘Let’s see how you go to Jantar Mantar.’ There are many MLAs and MPs here who have also been stopped at the gate and are not being allowed inside”

Meanwhile, the AAP, Samajwadi Party and other parties have slammed the development.

Former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a post on X, he said, “So, this is the solution Modi ji has given for paper leaks… Beat up with goons whoever raises their voice against paper leaks and don’t let them raise their voice at all. This isn’t politics, it’s cowardice. What a reign of thugs..”

On Sonam Wangchuk being taken to Safdarjung Hospital by the Delhi Police, Samajwadi Party MP Pushpendra Saroj says, “It is very unfortunate. As an MP and a young person, I had come here earlier as well, and there was a lot of anticipation. A large number of people had gathered in solidarity with someone who has been on a hunger strike for 20 days, but the government is not listening. Today, he was forcibly picked up, covered with bedsheets, the barricades were removed, and he was taken to Safdarjung Hospital…”
