In a fresh twist to the already uncertain government formation scenario in Tamil Nadu, TTV Dhinakaran met the Governor on Friday and staked a counter-claim, asserting that former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami enjoys the backing of 120 MLAs and should be invited to form the government.

Dhinakaran, who leads the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam, submitted a letter to the Governor along with what he claimed was a signed support document from an MLA backing EPS. He urged Raj Bhavan to consider the claim and allow Palaniswami to stake his right to form the government amid the ongoing post-election confusion.

On Friday, TTV Dhinakaran urged the Tamil Nadu Governor to invite Edappadi K. Palaniswami to form the government, claiming support from 120 MLAs amid intense political uncertainty and allegations of poaching following a fractured election verdict.

The development comes at a time when Tamil Nadu is witnessing intense political uncertainty over competing claims to form the next government, following a fractured verdict in the Assembly elections.

Dhinakaran also alleged that one of his MLAs is currently “unreachable” and suspected that the legislator may have switched allegiance amid behind-the-scenes political bargaining. He further accused the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam of engaging in horse trading, escalating tensions in an already volatile post-poll environment.

With multiple parties attempting to consolidate numbers, rival claims over majority support have intensified the deadlock in the state. While different blocs continue to assert their strength, the Governor is expected to verify the authenticity of all support letters before taking a final decision on government formation.

The political tug-of-war has now widened, with allegations of poaching, shifting loyalties, and competing majority claims adding further complexity to Tamil Nadu’s hung Assembly situation.
