The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad removed and neutralised the object at a nearby site. Pune police, the crime branch, and the Anti-Terrorism Squad are investigating, including possible terror links.

Police said the object had a clock and a timer attached. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team reached the hospital soon after the alert. The team shifted the object away from the building for safety. Officials said it was taken to a nearby ground area before disposal.

Vilas Gaikwad, a doctor at the hospital, described how the device was spotted. Vilas Gaikwad said it was found at around 7.30 pm. Vilas Gaikwad said it was inside a box in a second-floor washroom. Vilas Gaikwad said the police control room was informed immediately after the discovery.

Vilas Gaikwad said the device appeared to have several parts connected inside. Vilas Gaikwad said there were sticks linked to a timer. Vilas Gaikwad also said wires were attached to those components. Police said the device looked like a bomb based on its visible fittings.

Police said the BDDS team moved the object to a nearby gliding centre. Officials said it was neutralised at that location. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said, “The team did a commendable job by disposing of the object\”. The disposal was carried out to prevent any risk to patients and staff.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said early findings suggested low-grade explosives were present. Police said multiple units were assigned after the disposal. A team from Pune police, the crime branch, and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) started an investigation. Police said, \”All angles, including terror, are being probed,\” as inquiries continued.

Police said the device was found in a washroom and was removed quickly. Officials said the BDDS action helped avoid harm at the hospital. Police said the investigation by Pune police, the crime branch, and ATS was continuing. Police said they were examining every possible motive behind the placement of the object.
