Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and described yoga as an inseparable part of India’s cultural heritage and identity. The event was also attended by Union Minister of State for Law & Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal, along with several public representatives, officials and yoga enthusiasts.

Vaishnaw on Yoga Day in Bikaner

Addressing the gathering, Ashwini Vaishnaw said yoga reflects India’s ancient wisdom and holistic approach to health and well-being. He recalled the contribution of Swami Vivekananda in introducing India’s spiritual traditions to the world and noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has evolved into a global movement.

He said International Yoga Day has now become a worldwide celebration of India’s timeless traditions, with millions of people across countries embracing yoga as a way of life.

During the programme, the Union Minister also appreciated a creative presentation of yoga postures made using Shri Anna (millets). He highlighted the importance of traditional nutritious food and said millets and yoga together promote a healthier and balanced lifestyle.

Ashwini Vaishnaw further informed that a new train service connecting Bikaner and Ahmedabad would be flagged off later in the day. He added that several key railway projects aimed at strengthening connectivity in western Rajasthan, especially border regions, would also be reviewed during the visit. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across different age groups, who performed yoga exercises and pledged to adopt yoga as part of their daily routine.
