Dubai is under high alert again, as the residents witnessed an emergency alarm warning on incoming missiles. However, just minutes later, officials sent another message asking people to ignore the earlier alert, indicating that it had likely been issued by mistake.
Dubai residents received a mistaken missile alert from the UAE Ministry of Interior, which was later cancelled, causing brief concern amid recent regional tensions with Iran; diplomatic talks between the UAE and Iran followed the incident.
The incident triggered concern across the city, especially as it came only weeks after the ceasefire in the Iran conflict. Although no attack took place, the unexpected alert briefly raised fears among residents.
Emergency Alert Sent to Mobile Phones
The warning was issued by the UAE’s Ministry of Interior shortly after 5:15 pm local time.
People across Dubai received a text message warning of an incoming missile. The alert prompted confusion and concern, with many residents wondering whether the country was facing an actual security threat. A short time later, the ministry issued a second message instructing the public to disregard the previous warning.

Authorities did not provide an explanation for why the alert had been sent or what caused the apparent error.
First Such Alert During Recent Regional Tensions
The incident marked the first time such an emergency missile alert had been sent to the public during the recent tensions involving Iran.

Although the warning turned out to be false, it startled many people because it came shortly after weeks of heightened regional tensions and military exchanges.
The mistaken alert briefly revived fears of another possible escalation in the Middle East.
UAE and Iran Hold Diplomatic Talks
Soon after the false missile alert, the UAE announced that Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah stressed the importance of fully adhering to the interim understanding reached between Iran and the United States.
He also emphasised that dialogue and diplomacy remain the best way to resolve regional disputes and avoid further escalation.
Authorities Yet to Explain the Alert
As of now, UAE authorities have not clarified what triggered the emergency warning or whether it resulted from a technical malfunction or human error.
Officials have also not announced any investigation into the incident.
The brief alert nevertheless highlighted how sensitive the security situation remains in the Gulf region, where even an accidental warning can trigger widespread concern.
