As the nation witnesses the onset of monsoon, so is the time to witness the parliament monsoon session 2026 which is all set to commence from July 20, 2026. The session will continues for weeks and will conclude till August 13, 2026.
This is the time when the house will table key bills and issues as the session has been approved by the President – Droupadi Murmu

Parliament’s Monsoon Session, from July 20 to August 13, will address critical bills including constitutional amendments and the Women’s Reservation Bill, with potential reliance on regional party support for passage.

Making an official announcement, Kiren Rijiju posted on X that both the houses of the parliament will sit between July 20 and August 13. He added that the session is a chance to have a meaningful conversation aka debate of national importance.

Major Bills Expected During the Session

Varying the curiosity of what are the important bill which are likely to be introduced by the government in the monsoon session:

  • 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill
  • Women’s Reservation Implementation Bill
  • Delimitation Bill
  • Amendment to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA)

What Is the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill?

Understanding the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill- it says that if the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister is arrested in a serious crime such as curroption or assault, and is jailed for motre than one month / 30 days, then they will automatically loose their chair/ post.

Women’s Reservation Bill Comes to Fore

As this bill failed to pass last time in the special seating of the house amid the Assembly elections, the government is likely to bring it.
It must be known that while almost all opposition political parties are in favor of women’s reservation in principle, they are against making the women’s reservation issue dependent upon delimitation, as it would impact the parliamentary representation of southern states.

Does the Government Have the Numbers?

O Yes, definitely, following the massive victory in West Bengal Assembly Elections the NDA have boosted the strength of the alliance. The NDA’s effective strength in the Lok Sabha stands at about 330 members, though that is lower than the number required for amending the Constitution.

On the other hand, the position of the alliance in the Rajya Sabha has been improved following the inclusion of some MPs in the BJP. Combined with the strength of nominated and Independent Members, the NDA has surpassed the simple majority, but still falls short of numbers for amending the Constitution.
