India has accused Pakistan for silencing pubic dissent and fundamental rights of protesters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) for using force against them. The MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) has asked the international community to hold Pakistan for crossing human rights violation in PoK.

India’s MEA accused Pakistan of human rights violations in PoK, citing the use of force against protesters amid demands for economic relief, which India states involved blocking supplies and causing deaths. India urged the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for these actions in the occupied territory.

MEA Blames Pakistan for Rights Violations in PoK

While addressing weekly media briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the protest which is being held in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir shows how the public there have been exploited and repressed for several years.

“The ongoing protests in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir are a direct consequence of Pakistan’s decades-long systemic exploitation, denial of fundamental rights, and administrative oppression in the territories under its illegal and forcible occupation,” Jaiswal said.

He also criticised Pakistan for using forces and attacking civilians in Pakistan occupied Kashmir, including women and children.

India Raises Concern Over Humanitarian Situation

MEA also said that Pakistan has restricted even the essentials supplies and communication services in the area.

“Essential supplies such as food and medicines have been blocked, internet blackouts have been imposed, and lethal force has been used against unarmed civilians, resulting in several tragic deaths, as you are aware. We expect and hope that the international community will hold Pakistan fully accountable for these grave abuses,” Jaiswal added.

MEA also mention that these kind of responses are against the humanitarian in the region also asked the international attention for the incident.

Why Are Protests Taking Place in PoK?

According to the media reports, the protest has been fuelled after the economic worsening conditions in the region and public is disappointed with the Pakistan government. The protestors in PoK has called for subsidised wheat flour, cheap electricity and more government facilities.

THis also get another major issue when a controversial court ruling upheld 12 reserved assembly seats for migrants in the region, earlier also the similar kind of protest held last year.

The latest protest has made Pakistani government banned the political party Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) under anti-terrorism laws.

JAAC Leader Seeks India’s Help as Overseas Protests Continue

After the ban, JAAC leader Sardar Aman Khan has asked India for the help in a video that spread on social media. “We need India’s help. There is a shortage of rations… and we need your help,” Khan said in the video. The video was taken from 30 June rally. However, the video is authentic or not, it has not been verified yet.

This development has spread worldwide and members of Jammu and Kashmir has organised protest against Pakistan’s action in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia asking US government to intervene in the matter.
