UP CM Yogi Adityanath is going to visit Muradnagar on Friday, 17 July to unveil the statue of UP Politics’s ‘Ajatshatru’ and former Cabinet Minister Rajpal Tyagi. CM will give tribute to veteran leader after his death of prolonged illness on 18 July, 2025. In the honour of his work and his contribution to Muradnagar and Uttar Pradesh politics, the government has made his statue in Muradnagar.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit Muradnagar on July 17th to unveil a statue honoring the late Rajpal Tyagi, a six-time MLA and former minister recognized for his public service and relationships, earning him the title ‘Ajatshatru’.
Statue to Honour a Leader Remembered by the People
Rajpal Tyagi has been known as one of the most powerful leaders from western Uttar Pradesh. The statues has crafted in Kishangarh, Rajasthan and has been installed at Late Tejpal Tyagi Kushalpal Tyagi College in Murdanagar. According to the locals living there that this memorial is for the respect and affection people still have for him.
Rajpal Tyagi was very close to the public in Muradnagar and he gave his life to working for Murdnagar only. Local living there says that Rajpal Tyagi never went to any political party for ticket, instead many political parties used to come to him for their association with him.
From Lawyer to Six-Time MLA
Rajpal Tyagi was born to former UP Cabinet minister parshuram Tyagi, he studied LLB before starting his career as a lawyer in Ghaziabad. He soon became the President of the Bar Association and slowly entered into politics.
Mr. Tyagi was connected to Congress organisation for several years as Ghaziabad District Congress President for almost eight years. He then joined full time politics and contested elections from Muradnagar and was elected MLA from there for six times. During his long phase of career, he remained minister for three times, one term as Minister of State (Independent Charge) and two terms as Cabinet Minister.

Political Legacy Continues Through His Family
Rajpal Tyagi is now survived by his wife Lokesh Tyagi and two sons, his elder son is Girish Pal Tyagi. While his younger son Ajit Pal Tyagi take forward his legacy in politics and has been winning elections from Muradnagar. He has won twice from the seat and elected MLA in 2017 and 2022.
Why Rajpal Tyagi Was Called ‘Ajatshatru’
Rajpal Tyagi worked like a king of Muradnagar and he earned his reputation from the public itself. He was constant in Muradnagar despite UP had any political party governance be it Congress, SP or BSP. He maintained his cordial relations with political parties and to the people of Muradnagar.
His simplicity of living and very approachable lifestyle, while a direct connection to public made him giving title of “Ajatshatru”, that mainly refers to a person who doesn’t have an enemy. A leader from Western Uttar Pradesh who is still known for the work he has done in Muradabad.
