Finally after almost a month of CJP protest the Central government agreed to talk to the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), who has been leading a protest over alleged irregularities in competitive exams and demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Central government held initial talks with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) regarding exam irregularities, confirmed by Union Health Minister JP Nadda. The CJP demanded Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation, the release of Sonam Wangchuk, and compensation for NEET families.
The talk was confirmed by Union Health Minister JP Nadda after he posted on X, “The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere. An initial verbal discussion was held in detail with their delegation, and they submitted a written petition to me around 4 PM.”
The meeting came on the same day as the CJP’s ‘Chalo Sansad’ march, which witnessed clashes between protesters and police in central Delhi.
JP Nadda Confirms First Round Of Talks
Sharing a post on X, JP Nadda said the it is for the first time the CJP protesters proposed to hold talks with the government.
According to Nadda, talks began at around 11:50 am and were held in a cordial atmosphere. He said the delegation had an initial detailed verbal discussion before submitting a written memorandum later in the day.
Nadda added that he had appealed to the protesters to end their sit-in and cooperate with the administration so that normalcy could be restored.
This official statement marks the first official response from the Centre regarding the ongoing agitation.
CJP Places Three Key Demands Before Government
Well, the CJP kept three key demands to the government at the meeting.
- Resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradham
- Release of Activist Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung hospital and there should be no restrictions on his movement.
- Rs 1 crore compensation to the families of NEET aspirants who allegedly died by suicide following the paper leak.
‘Chalo Sansad’ March Turns Tense
As the Delhi police stated a day earlier that no permission has been sought for the march and hence section 163 has been imposed across Delhi, therefore as the protestors attempted to march towards the parliament, the police stopped them with barricades and also used tear gas shells and detained several participants to disperse the crowd.
Informing that, the march was organised to press for the resignation of the Education Minister and demand accountability in the country’s examination system.
Protest Continues Despite Talks
Although the first round of discussions between the government and CJP representatives has taken place, there has been no announcement of an agreement so far.
The protest, which began over alleged examination irregularities, continues to draw attention from students, activists and public figures. With the Centre and the protesters now engaging in dialogue, the focus will be on whether further negotiations can lead to a resolution in the coming days.
