Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has reported a strong financial andoperational performance for the first quarter of fiscal 2026-27, withconsolidated profit after tax (PAT) rising 130 per cent year-on-year to Rs1,237 crore.

AESL delivers strong Q1 FY27 results

The company’s PAT stood at Rs 539 crore in the corresponding quarter of theprevious fiscal. AESL’s quarterly EBITDA also crossed the Rs 3,000-croremark for the first time, rising 58 per cent year-on-year to a record Rs3,178 crore.

Revenue growth was led by the Energy Solutions Platform, smart metering expansion, and ongoing transmission and distribution initiatives, underscoring disciplined execution and improving cash profit.

The company’s total income increased 40 per cent year-on-year to anall-time high of Rs 9,852 crore in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 7,026 crore inthe year-ago period. Operational revenue rose 54 per cent to Rs 7,117 crore.

According to the company, the growth was supported by the ramp-up of therecently commissioned Mumbai HVDC project, continued smart meteringrollout, contribution from its Energy Solutions Platform and higher ServiceConcession Arrangement (SCA) income. Cash profit during the quarter stood at Rs 1,776 crore, registering a 70per cent year-on-year increase.

AESL’s Energy Solutions Platform reported a strong start to the financialyear, with operating EBITDA of Rs 590 crore, compared with Rs 17 crore inQ1FY26. Operating revenue, excluding other trading income, stood at Rs1,839 crore, compared with Rs 18 crore in the corresponding period lastyear.

The company said the segment benefited from higher electricity demandduring the prolonged summer season. AESL currently has around 4 GW of renewable power supply tie-ups acrosssolar and wind, around 3.3 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS)capacity and an energy portfolio of more than 1 GW spanning commercial andindustrial customers, data centres and utilities.

Smart Metering Business Expands

The company said it has completed 13.44 million cumulative smart meterinstallations, compared with 5.54 million at the end of Q1FY26.

AESL has also announced the proposed acquisition of IntelliSmart, a movethat is expected to strengthen its position in the smart metering sector.Following the acquisition, the company aims to build a smart meteringplatform with a total portfolio of more than 47 million meters.

Its current smart meter order book stands at 24.6 million meters,representing a potential revenue opportunity of Rs 29,519 crore. Thecompany said the nationwide smart metering market opportunity remains ataround 103 million meters.

Transmission Pipeline Worth Rs 71,779 Crore

AESL said its transmission business continues to have a strong growthpipeline, with 13 projects worth a combined Rs 71,779 crore underconstruction.

The near-term transmission tendering opportunity is estimated at around Rs1.1 lakh crore.

The company’s transmission network stood at 27,949 circuit kilometres (ckm)during the quarter, compared with 26,696 ckm in Q1FY26. Average systemavailability remained strong at 99.6 per cent.

The company also reported Rs 35 crore in incentive income during thequarter, which it attributed to strong line availability and operationalperformance.

Distribution Business Records Steady Growth

The distribution business, comprising Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited(AEML) and MPSEZ (Mundra) Utility Limited (MUL), recorded steady growthduring the quarter.

AEML maintained supply reliability at 99.99 per cent. Units sold in theMumbai circle rose 11 per cent year-on-year to 3,260 million units (MUs),compared with 2,939 MUs in Q1FY26.

At MUL, units sold increased 57 per cent year-on-year to 425 MUs, driven byhigher industrial and commercial demand.

AEML’s distribution loss stood at 5.16 per cent during the quarter. Thecompany said the increase was impacted by extreme heatwave conditions andhigher energy consumption, while remaining within the regulator’spermissible limit of 5.31 per cent.

Capital Expenditure Rises 57%

AESL’s capital expenditure increased 1.57 times year-on-year to Rs 3,498crore in Q1FY27, compared with Rs 2,224 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company said the higher capex reflects continued execution across itstransmission, smart metering and other energy infrastructure projects.

On the credit front, ICRA reaffirmed AESL’s long-term rating at ICRA AA+with a Stable outlook and assigned its highest short-term rating of ICRAA1+ to the company’s facilities.

Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited also retained all its credit ratings,including a Stable outlook from Moody’s.

CEO Says Company Well Positioned for Sustainable Growth

Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions, said the company haddelivered a robust start to FY27, supported by strong financial performanceand continued operational execution across its core businesses.

He said the proposed acquisition of IntelliSmart would strengthen AESL’sgrowth platform and help build India’s leading smart metering platform. Healso highlighted the company’s renewable energy tie-ups and expandingconsumer base across utilities, commercial and industrial customers anddata centres.

“Backed by a strong project pipeline, disciplined execution and creditdiscipline, we remain well positioned to drive sustainable growth andcreate long-term stakeholder value,” Patel said.

AESL is present across power transmission, distribution, smart metering andcooling solutions. The company operates across 16 states and has acumulative transmission network of 27,949 ckm and transformation capacityof 1,23,175 MVA. Its distribution businesses serve more than 13 millionconsumers in Mumbai and the Mundra SEZ.
