Union Minister Jitendra Singh appeared at the Congress protest site outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence on Tuesday evening, where he was seen briefly engaging in conversation with Rahul Gandhi.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and several others held a protest at Lok Kalyan Marg, demanding the resignations of the Prime Minister and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, protested outside PM Narendra Modi’s residence demanding resignations over student issues and paper leaks, with Minister Jitendra Singh offering parliamentary discussion amid security concerns and Kiren Rijiju stressing national interest, as talks failed to break the deadlock.
Singh told the Congress leaders that the government was ready to discuss the issue in Parliament, News18 reported citing sources. “There has to be order in Parliament. A law and order situation need not be created. As it is a sensitive area, any such prolonged protest could be a security concern,” he said.
However, Rahul Gandhi is expected to stay at the sit till night as the talks have failed to break the deadlock, NDTV reported.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police detained several Congress leaders who had gathered near the PM’s residence. The protest came in the wake of what the party described as “brutalities against students” during a march to Parliament a day earlier.

Congress MP K Suresh told ANI: “Our students were very cruelly attacked. The Honourable PM is not saying anything, Home Minister Amit Shah is not saying anything – that is why Congress MPs, both from Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, are protesting.”
The demonstration was triggered by police action during the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) march to Parliament on Monday. Punjab Congress Campaign Committee chairperson Charanjit Singh Channi launched a scathing attack on the ruling party, saying, “This is BJP’s terrorism. They don’t listen to the students…” as protestors chanted slogans of “Shame shame” and “BJP murdabad.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at a meeting with NDA leader on Tuesday, stated that strong action was taken against those involved in the “grave sin” of paper leaks so that no one plays with the future of the youth, PTI reported.
The Prime Minister urged all state governments must join hands with the Centre on the issue and asked NDA MPs to be connected with the people with “warmth and affection” and the “trust of the youth” needed to be won.
“The prime minister said strong action has been taken to ensure that no one plays with the future of youth. The prime minister also said that to ensure that no future paper leaks take place, all state governments and the Centre must join hands irrespective of party. This is not a matter of party politics but a matter of national interest,” Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said.
The protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi have intensified after the Delhi Police took activist Sonam Wangchuk to hospital on Saturday. He was on indefinite hunger strike.
