Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is finally making it to theatres after delaying by seven months. Directed by H Vinoth of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru fame, the flick has Bollywood actress Pooja Hegde playing the female lead while Bobby Deol enacts the role of a villain.
Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, Reba Monica John, Nassar, Sunil, Baba Bhaskar, Teejay Arunasalam, Revathi and others are part of the cast. Anirudh Ravichander has scored the music for the flick which has Sathyan Sooryan’s cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav’s editing.
Tamil Nadu CM Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’, directed by H Vinoth, releases after a seven-month delay, featuring script changes inspired by ‘Bhagavanth Kesari’ and reflecting Vijay’s current political role.
The movie is inspired by Telugu hit movie Bhagavanth Kesari which starred Balakrishna. However, the makers have made ample changes to the script and has an entirely fresh story with a new conflict. The story deals around a man’s struggle to get justice.
Jana Nayagan was originally planned for Pongal release. The release was put on halt at the last minute due to censor-related issues. The delay has now become a boon as Vijay went on to become the Chief Minister of the state and makers have made changes to the overall content to enhance the mass appeal.
For the first time, Vijay’s title card won’t just say ‘Thalapathy Vijay’ as it will introduce him as the ‘Honourable Tamil Nadu CM’. They have also added Vijay’s now-famous hand-slashing gesture from the promotional song Raavana Mavandaa, a move many believe references his real-life gesture in the Assembly.

Bhagavanth Kesari is a film that both Vijay sir and I deeply admire. We only took inspiration and even discussed it with Anil Ravipudi garu. #JanaNayagan is an entirely new story with a fresh world and a new conflict. I’m sure it will offer a fresh cinematic experience while connecting emotionally with the audience.
The movie has generated huge hype not just in Tamil Nadu but also in Karnataka and a few overseas centres. This is evident in the advance booking of the film. Will it live up to the viewers’ expectations? Find out:
