Social media giant Meta on Tuesday said that it blocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent address to students briefly due to an “error”

“The content was removed in error and has since been restored,” ANI quoted a Meta spokesperson as saying. However, the Centre is not taking the incident lightly and examining the social media giant’s clarification and the circumstances that led to the video’s removal, the government sources told IANS.

Social media conglomerate Meta confirmed on Tuesday that its platforms had briefly blocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to students, a temporary disruption that happened during the event.

The officials from Meta are likely to be summoned to give an explanation.

“Meta has apologised for the removal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post. The removal was reportedly due to a technical glitch. The government is taking the matter very seriously, and officials are likely to be summoned,” IANS quoted sources in a tweet.

In a late night video, Prime Minister Modi, in a first, released a video during the NEET protests to assure the GenZ that the government will take strict action against paper leaks. The Parliament will debate the issue in the ongoing Monsoon session.

“I know that paper leaks are not an ordinary issue. And for millions of students and their guardians, this is painful,” the PM said.

He has announced that the paper leak issue will be handled by fast-track courts.

The Prime Minister said, “On the 19th July, the results were declared. I directed the departments today to establish a fast-track court. The departments presented me with the resolution late at night. This resolution, along with the provision for a fast-track court and harsh punishment, will be discussed in the cabinet tomorrow. After the suggestions of cabinet colleagues, it will be finalised, and since the second week of Parliament is starting from Monday, efforts will be made to get that bill passed in the House as soon as possible.”
