Prime Minister Narendra Modi is back with his new Instagram video ahead of National Handloom Day celebrated on August 7.

PM Narendra Modi, in a unique GRWM-style Instagram video, encouraged support for India’s handloom sector ahead of National Handloom Day on August 7, linking it to the Swadeshi Movement and promoting citizen participation through ‘Post Your Handloom Story’.
In a noticeable shift from his usual style, the Prime Minister appeared in a back camera shot, GRWM (Get Ready With Me) – style video, while encouraging citizens to support India’s handloom industry.
A Different Style of Communication
Unlike his regular speeches and camera facing messages, this latest video adopts more casualty which is usually seen on social media. The use of a back camera and a GRWM-inspired presentation has caught the attention of users, particularly younger audiences who are familiar with such content formats.
The video reflects a growing emphasis on digital engagement and audience participation.
PM Modi’s Appeal for National Handloom Day
In the video, the Prime Minister called upon people to celebrate National Handloom Day on August 7 with the same enthusiasm as Friendship Day. He said that the way everyone celebrated friendship day recently, all must celebrate the handloom day with the same enthusiasm.
‘Post Your Handloom Story’
According to him, such user-generated content can help promote India’s rich textile heritage and encourage more people to choose handloom products.
The appeal marks a more participatory style of public outreach, where citizens are invited to become active contributors rather than just viewers. The Prime Minister also recalled that the Swadeshi Movement began on August 7, 1905, during India’s freedom struggle.
He said the movement symbolised self-reliance and support for indigenous products, adding that National Handloom Day offers an opportunity to honour the country’s weaving community and preserve its traditional craftsmanship.
PM Modi said supporting handloom products is an important step towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
