In a shocking and saddening incident, nine people lost their lives after a Maruti Suzuki Eeco passenger van fell in a swollen open drain. The incident happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district on Monday.
According to the reports, there were 11 people in the van, out of which nine died and two were rescued alive.
Nine individuals died in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district on Monday when a Maruti Suzuki Eeco van carrying 11 passengers fell into the swollen Jhiri drain after incessant rains washed away a temporary bridge; two people were rescued alive.
The accident happened after incessant rains led to the Jhiri drain overflowing near Padana.
Passengers were travelling from Satwas to Kadlawad village when it arrived at the Jhiri drain, where construction of a new bridge is in progress. The temporary bridge was washed away because of the overflowing water in the drain.
“As many as seven persons have died in the Jhiri drain accident. Three persons have been rescued. A rescue operation is underway to search out the remaining,” said the Rajgarh Sub-divisional magistrate, Rohit Bamhore.
