The deadline for Gruha Jyothi reverification has been extended to September 30, giving beneficiaries another month to complete the process. The earlier deadline was August 31.
The door-to-door verification drive began on July 31. So far, Bescom has completed the reverification of 46.7 lakh beneficiaries out of the 68 lakh covered under its jurisdiction, taking the progress to nearly 70 per cent.
The Gruha Jyothi reverification deadline is extended to September 30, with Bescom having verified 46.7 lakh of 68 lakh beneficiaries and requesting resident cooperation.

Bescom Managing Director Dr N Shivashankara has asked beneficiaries to cooperate with meter readers when they visit their homes and keep the necessary documents ready.
The power utility said some residents living in apartments across Bengaluru have not been cooperating with its staff during the survey. It has appealed to apartment residents to allow officials to carry out the verification when they visit.
If a meter reader finds a house locked, they will make up to three visits at different times. During each visit, the official will record the location’s latitude and longitude and mark the premises as “DL” (Door Lock) in the mobile application.
After a house is marked as locked, the beneficiary will receive an SMS with the meter reader’s name and contact number on their registered mobile number. The message will be sent up to three times, giving the beneficiary an opportunity to get in touch with the meter reader and complete the verification.
For premises marked as “VACANT”, registration can be completed on the app only after a Bescom official visits the location in person and records its latitude and longitude.
