Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay launched a scathing attack on the DMK in the State Assembly on Monday, targeting the opposition over historical corruption charges, law and order, and hostile political rhetoric.

Responding to opposition challenges to expose corrupt department files from the previous regime, the Chief Minister cited the 1988 Sarkaria Commission report on former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. He also pointed to Enforcement Directorate findings alleging that illegal money was collected as “party funds” under the previous DMK administration.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay criticized the DMK in the State Assembly on Monday, citing historical corruption allegations and Enforcement Directorate findings involving leaders like M.K. Stalin and Senthil Balaji. He also addressed law and order concerns, highlighted police reform plans, and condemned hostile political rhetoric.

He accused, “The bribes collected as ‘party funds’ directly benefit the ruling party running the Tamil Nadu government. And the beneficiaries are M.K. Stalin, Udhayanidhi, Kavi Prasad, D. Ramesh, Prabhu, and government officials.”

“Where DMK exists, that is where wrong happens,” Vijay said, targeting the opposition of abusing official positions for institutionalized kickbacks.

Addressing concerns over state law and order, Vijay highlighted the arrest of 36 individuals in connection with a college student’s murder in Coimbatore. Rebuffing criticism over recent crime statistics, he argued that recent violent incidents were driven by long-standing enmities rather than failures over the past 100 days.

He said, “I will not play political blame games by pulling data on crimes from 2021-2025. My duty is to stand as an elder brother to every affected family, address the psychological roots, and deliver a complete resolution.”

The Chief Minister also credited women voters for his political mandate, promising zero tolerance for abusive or defamatory language against women in political discourse. Positioning his rise alongside regional political figures like C.N. Annadurai, M.G. Ramachandran, and N.T. Rama Rao, Vijay closed his remarks by condemning recent statements from DMK leaders directed at non-voters, questioning the party’s democratic credentials.
