Netflix has cancelled Ransom Canyon after two seasons, bringing the Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly-led romantic Western drama to an end, Deadline reports.
The cancellation means there will be no Season 3 of the series, which follows the complicated relationships, family rivalries and ranching conflicts in a small Texas community.
Netflix currently lists Ransom Canyon as a two-season series starring Duhamel, Kelly and Lizzy Greene.
Why did Netflix cancel Ransom Canyon?
Netflix has not publicly given a detailed reason for ending Ransom Canyon after Season 2.

The cancellation comes despite the show having a significant audience when its first season debuted. Netflix said Season 1 spent four weeks in its Global Top 10 TV list and reached the Top 10 in 77 countries.
However, those figures did not ultimately lead to a third-season renewal.
The series was initially renewed for Season 2 after its first season’s performance. Netflix announced that Season 2 had gone into production in September 2025, with Patricia Clarkson joining the cast.
The second season premiered on Netflix on July 23, 2026, and consisted of eight episodes.
What happened in Season 2?
Season 2 picked up six months after Quinn O’Grady, played by Kelly, left Ransom for New York City. She eventually returned to Texas, while Staten Kirkland, played by Duhamel, attempted to repair their relationship.
The season expanded the show’s storylines with new characters and family conflicts. Patricia Clarkson joined as Quinn’s mother Claire, while Ben Robson played Oliver, a new romantic interest for Quinn. Steve Howey also joined the cast as Staten’s half-brother Levi.
The show’s creator, April Blair, said Season 2 continued to center on three themes: “land, love, and legacy.”
What happens to Ransom Canyon after Season 2?
Netflix’s own Season 2 coverage had left the possibility of another season open, saying the second season ended with several unanswered questions and directing viewers to wait for an update on another chapter.
The cancellation now means those storylines will not continue on Netflix, unless the series is revived or picked up elsewhere.
Ransom Canyon was created by April Blair and is based in part on Jodi Thomas’ book series. The show starred Duhamel as rancher Staten Kirkland and Kelly as Quinn O’Grady, with the story combining romance, family drama and Western themes.
The cancellation comes only weeks after Season 2 began streaming, ending the Netflix run at two seasons and 18 episodes.
