BRICS leaders have taken a strong stand against terrorism by condemning the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. The leaders took a strong stand in its New Delhi declaration on Saturday and also called for strong action against cross-border terrorism and those who are supporting it.
In the New Delhi declaration ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability,’ BRICS leaders strongly condemned the April 22, 2025, Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26, calling for action against cross-border terrorism and terror financing.
The declaration released with the title ‘Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability’ shows a common position among BRICS nations on terrorism and other growing security threats, including terror financing, cyber fraud, illegal financial flows and cross-border scam networks.
‘Strongest Terms’ Condemnation Of Pahalgam Attack
Leading the security outcomes of the declaration, member nations condemned the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and left scores injured.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, during which 26 people were killed and many more injured. We reaffirm our commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including the cross-border movement of terrorists, terrorism financing and safe havens,” the declaration said.
The declaration explicitly noted that all acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, whenever, wherever and by whomsoever committed.
BRICS Calls For Action Against Terror Networks
Reaffirming their commitment to combating terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the BRICS leaders emphasised the urgent need to stop the cross-border movement of terrorists, disrupt terror financing networks and dismantle safe havens.
The member states reiterated that terrorism should not be associated with any religion, nationality, civilisation, or ethnic group, while asserting that all those involved in terror activities must be held accountable under national and international law.
