Did Vijay Sethupathi’s comments on leadership during the latest weekend episode of Bigg Boss Tamil 10 contain a political undertone?
That is the question doing the rounds after the actor-host spoke about what makes a good leader while advising contestant Shatiga on handling leadership.
Vijay Sethupathi’s Bigg Boss Tamil 10 leadership advice was seen as echoing recent Tamil Nadu Assembly politics, where CM M. K. Stalin attacked the DMK amid controversy over his statements and gestures.

Without knowing who the leader is, without understanding what leadership really means, making promises without thinking, turning one’s back when a problem arises and then blaming the opposition are not qualities expected of a leader, Vijay Sethupathi said, in essence.
His comments may have been made in the context of the Bigg Boss house, but they could easily remind viewers of the political controversy that unfolded in the Tamil Nadu Assembly just days earlier.
The timing has made the remarks particularly interesting.
On September 7, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay launched a sharp attack on the opposition DMK during the Assembly session. He accused previous DMK governments of corruption and referred to the Sarkaria Commission report from the 1970s as well as Enforcement Directorate documents while making his allegations.

Vijay also named DMK president and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin while referring to corruption allegations.
The CM’s remarks, however, were not the only part of the Assembly proceedings that triggered controversy.
While referring to the DMK’s repeated references to the party’s struggles during the Emergency and the detention of its leaders under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA), Vijay made a hand gesture by placing his palm near his jaw and moving it upwards.
The gesture drew strong criticism from the DMK.
The opposition party subsequently accused the ruling side of avoiding the issues it had raised in the Assembly, including law and order and the drug menace, and instead targeting the DMK with allegations.
The DMK’s criticism was also centred on Vijay’s conduct in the Assembly, with the opposition questioning his approach to the issues raised by them.
Against this backdrop, Vijay Sethupathi’s comments on leadership in Bigg Boss Tamil 10 have naturally caught attention.
His remarks about a leader making promises, disappearing when trouble arrives and blaming the opposition can remind some viewers of the political exchanges witnessed in the Assembly.
But there is no indication that Vijay Sethupathi was directly referring to Chief Minister Vijay or the recent Assembly controversy.
The actor was speaking to Shatiga about leadership and how she should approach the responsibility inside the Bigg Boss house.
Still, the similarities are hard to ignore, particularly for viewers who have been following the recent political developments in Tamil Nadu.
Whether it was an intentional political dig or simply advice to a contestant, Vijay Sethupathi’s choice of words has certainly given viewers something to talk about.
