An 81-year-old man who says he shared his school years with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat has personally approached the Prime Minister over a long-running property dispute in Maharashtra, seeking a CBI investigation into what he alleges is a case of forged land documents.

Asgarali Vohra, who studied at BN School in Vadnagar, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 8 and submitted a written complaint concerning around 2,810 square metres of land in Bhayandar East’s Navghar Road area.

After initiating an FIR in 2015, 81-year-old Asgarali Vohra met PM Narendra Modi on Sep 8 regarding a Bhayandar East property dispute, alleging forged documents and seeking a CBI probe due to prolonged investigation delays.

Vohra’s connection with the Prime Minister dates back to their school days in Vadnagar. Decades later, he has turned to his former schoolmate at the highest level of government, alleging that his property rights were undermined through documents he never authorised.

According to Vohra’s complaint, he purchased the land through a registered agreement in 1989. He maintains that he never sold the property, transferred his rights or authorised any developer to take control of it.

Schoolmate’s complaint names builders

The dispute, according to Vohra, took a contentious turn years later. He has alleged that documents prepared in 2011 were used to create a different ownership and possession trail for the property.

Vohra has specifically alleged that Swayam Builders was involved in the disputed documentation and that the original property was subsequently divided into two portions.

He claims one portion was shown as being in the possession of Swayam Builders, while the other was linked to Seven Eleven Constructions, a company associated with BJP MLA Narendra Mehta.

Vohra has alleged that the documents were fabricated and used to support development activity on land that he continues to claim as his own.

He has also questioned how the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation’s Town Planning Department granted construction-related permission despite his objections.

The allegations have not been conclusively established by a court. The dispute involves competing claims over property rights, possession records and the validity of documents.

Why he wants the CBI involved

Vohra’s complaint to the Prime Minister comes after years of pursuing the matter through investigative and legal channels.

An FIR concerning the alleged forgery was registered in 2015. Vohra has claimed that the CID report in the case was submitted only in 2026, nearly 11 years after the FIR.

He has cited the prolonged process as one of the reasons for seeking a central investigation, alleging that local influence may have affected the handling of the matter.

Vohra has also alleged that a counter-case was registered against him in 2025 without giving him prior notice or an opportunity to present his side.

His complaint names builders and officials associated with civic, revenue and police departments, accusing them of either participating in or failing to properly act on the alleged irregularities.

Former classmates, now at the centre of a property plea

The unusual personal connection between Vohra and Modi has given the case an added dimension. Vohra, who says he knew the Prime Minister from their school days in Vadnagar, has now sought Modi’s intervention in a dispute that he says has consumed years of his life.

The matter is also scheduled for a municipal hearing on September 16, when representatives of the companies involved have been asked to appear.

The proceedings could bring fresh attention to the documents used for construction permissions and the competing claims over the property.

For Vohra, however, the immediate objective remains an independent probe. He wants the alleged forgery, the changes in possession records and the role of officials examined by an agency outside the local investigative system.

Whether his request leads to a CBI investigation will depend on the competent authorities or courts. For now, the 81-year-old has taken his decades-old dispute directly to his former schoolmate, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking a fresh examination of a case he says has remained unresolved for years.
