The Yemeni government has continued air operations against Houthi around Taiz, Al Jazeera reported.
Yemeni government warplanes targeted a Houthi missile platform near Taiz airport, previously used for attacking Mocha, amid ongoing air strikes on Houthi positions and gathering forces, alongside Houthi artillery fire on government fronts.
Yemeni government forces said warplanes have targeted a Houthi ballistic missile launch platform at Taiz airport. According to the forces, the Houthis had used this site to launch missile towards the port of Mocha, before the 3 September attack.
The latest air strikes are part of continuing military operations against Houthi positions in and around Taiz.
Air Strikes Target Houthi Positions
Air strikes are also continuing against Houthi positions and reinforcements in Khadir district, south of Taiz.
Al Jazeera Arabic journalists on the ground reported that Houthi forces have been gathering personnel and military equipment in several areas around Taiz. The reported movement includes armed groups, vehicles and heavy weapons.
The forces are said to be moving towards the al-Shaqab front, which is considered an eastern gateway to Taiz.
Earlier Strikes Hit Houthi Reinforcements
The latest attacks follow several other air strikes in the area.
A Yemeni government spokesman said earlier that air strikes targeted Houthi reinforcements and positions in Dhubab, Mokha and the western countryside of Taiz.
The operations come as government forces continue efforts to put pressure on Houthi positions around the strategically important city.
Houthis Fire Artillery At Government Positions
The fighting has also continued on the ground.
Houthi forces fired more than four artillery rounds towards government positions on the al-Kadeha front on Tuesday morning, according to reports from the area.
The latest exchange of air and artillery attacks highlights the continuing military tensions around Taiz, where both sides have maintained positions across several fronts.
Taiz remains an important battleground in Yemen’s long-running conflict between the internationally recognised government and the Iran-aligned Houthi movement.
