Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag has been honoured with the greatest Indian cinema honour of Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024 for his contribution to Indian cinema. Anant Nag received this prestigious lifetime achievement award at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony held in Gujarat.
Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag received the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024 at the 72nd National Film Awards in Gujarat, recognizing his five-decade career and significant contributions to Indian cinema across over 300 films.
Anant Nag Honoured For Long Career
The Central government honoured KGF actor Anant Nag for his long career of more than five-decade span. The award also tells his contribution and influence on the generations of actors, filmmakers and audiences.
Anant Nag has also been honoured with Padma Bhushan award earlier, he had worked in more than 300 films during his five decade span of career. He has played different kind of roles, from comedy to lead characters to important supporting roles in Kannada movies.
Anant Nag Thanks Film Industry
After receiving the honour, Anant Nag remembered saint Kanakadasa and quoted his famous lines, which translate as, ‘All that we do is for food and cloth.’

The experienced actor also expressed his gratitude to the directors, screenwriters, producers and audiences who supported him throughout his long journey in cinema.
From Theatre To Indian Cinema
Anant Nag was born in Shirali in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district and began his acting career in theatre. He started his film career with 1973 Kannada film Sankalpa.
He then worked with filmmaker like Shyam Benegal in the Hindi film Ankur. Later on he became one of the familiar faces of Kannada cinema. He was recently appreciated for his performance in Yash starrer KGF Chapter 1.
