The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has announced another protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, 2026, if Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar does not resign.

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) plans a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10, 2026, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

CJP convenor Abhijit Dipke made the announcement after the party’s protest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on October 2. He said supporters from across the country would travel to Delhi for the proposed demonstration.

CJP Sets October 10 Deadline

Dipke announced the proposed Delhi protest in a post on X.
“If Gyanesh Kumar doesn’t resign, cockroaches from across India will march to Delhi & protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10.”

He further said that if Delhi Police attempted to stop the protesters, the place where they were stopped would become their protest site.

Dipke also described the planned demonstration as a peaceful protest and appealed to people who support what the party describes as free and fair elections to participate.
The announcement comes amid continuing protests against the Election Commission and its Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

What Is CJP Demanding?

During its October 2 demonstration in Mumbai, the CJP raised several demands linked to the electoral roll revision exercise.

The party demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and called for criminal proceedings to establish who ordered the SIR exercise.

It has also demanded that the SIR process be frozen and that the January 2025 electoral roll be restored. Another demand is the repeal of the 2023 law governing the appointment of Election Commissioners, followed by a new appointment mechanism involving greater participation from civil society.

These are demands made by the CJP; the party’s allegations and interpretations regarding the SIR process remain matters of political dispute.

Mumbai Protest Precedes Delhi Announcement

The October 10 announcement followed a CJP-led demonstration at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on October 2. Reports said thousands of people gathered for the protest, while several public figures and artists also attended. The demonstration focused on the Election Commission, electoral rolls and the SIR exercise.

The CJP has said that the Mumbai protest was part of a wider campaign that would now extend to the national capital.
The proposed Jantar Mantar protest would therefore mark another major mobilisation by the party in Delhi.
