The Telangana Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency and Civil Defence Department has introduced revised guidelines for issuing provisional Fire No Objection Certificates (NOCs), officials said on Friday.

Telangana’s Fire Department revised Fire NOC guidelines effective October 7, raising the threshold for residential buildings to 24m, mandating Fire Towers and command centres for buildings 24m+, and updating basement DG room ventilation rules.
The updated rules were issued by Fire Services Director General Vikram Singh Mann after consultations with representatives of builders’ associations, including CREDAI and the Telangana Builders Federation, an official release said.
Effective from October 7, the revised guidelines will apply only to new applications for provisional Fire NOCs submitted on or after that date.
According to the department, the changes are intended to simplify the approval process, make compliance easier for applicants and strengthen the implementation of essential fire safety measures in buildings across Telangana.
Fire NOC Threshold Raised For Residential Buildings
Among the revisions, for residential apartment buildings, a Fire NOC will be required for buildings 24 meters high and above, up from the previous threshold of 18 meters, it said adding there will be no change in the existing requirements for other occupancy types.
Fire Towers And Command Centres Made Mandatory
A Fire Tower will be required for buildings with a height of 24 meters and above, irrespective of the occupancy type, it said.
A Fire Command Centre room will be required in buildings with a height of 24 meters and above, for all occupancy types.
Revised Ventilation Rules For Basement DG Rooms
With regard to ventilation arrangements for Diesel Generator rooms located in basements, louvres will be permitted above a fire-rated wall of at least one metre in height, provided that the wall has a two-hour Fire Resistance rating, the release said.
The revised requirements are intended to provide a clear, uniform and practical approach to the implementation of Fire and Life Safety measures while processing applications for Provisional Fire NOCs, the release added.
