A 51-year-old pastor from Telangana has shown how small savings can help fulfil a dream. B Ravi Joseph, from Luxettipet in Mancherial district, bought a new Honda Activa after collecting Rs 10 coins worth Rs 1.23 lakh over three years.

A 51-year-old pastor from Telangana, B Ravi Joseph, purchased a Honda Activa after saving Rs 10 coins worth Rs 1.23 lakh over three years, a payment that required showroom staff nearly two hours to count.
How A Small Habit Helped Him Buy A Scooter
Joseph started saving Rs 10 coins on 10 October. Whenever he received one as change during grocery shopping or other daily purchases, he kept it aside instead of spending it.
He continued this habit for three years, gradually building a collection worth Rs 1,23,000. What started as a simple way to save money eventually helped him pay for a new two-wheeler.
“For the past three years, out of my daily routine and grocery expenses-even when going out-wherever I went to the grocery shop, I managed to save some money little by little, saving approximately 1,23,000 rupees bit by bit,” he said.
Family Worried About Rs 10 Coins
Joseph faced doubts at home when rumours circulated that Rs 10 coins might be discontinued or lose their legal-tender status. Some family members advised him to stop collecting the coins, but he continued with his plan.
“My family asked me not to continue, but I did not give up. I kept saving the coins, one transaction at a time,” Joseph said.
Showroom Staff Spend Two Hours Counting Coins
After accumulating the money, Joseph took the coins to Jagadamba Honda Motors in Luxettipet to purchase his scooter. The showroom staff spent nearly two hours counting the coins before confirming that the total was Rs 1.23 lakh.
Joseph arrived with his family members to collect the new Honda Activa. His unusual method of payment drew attention from dealership staff and people in the area.
Royal Enfield Bullet Remains An Unfulfilled Dream
While Joseph managed to buy the scooter, he admitted that his original wish was to own a Royal Enfield Bullet. However, financial constraints meant he could not afford the motorcycle.
His three-year effort shows how regularly setting aside small amounts can help build savings for a larger purchase. In Joseph’s case, every Rs 10 coin brought him a little closer to owning his own vehicle.
