IITian Baba Abhay Singh Grewal, who came to limelight during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, is once again making headlines. But this time, it is not because of his spiritual talks or his latest appearance.

A claim about his death has been circulating on social media for the two days.

Hisar Police denied social media rumors claiming the death of IITian Baba Abhay Singh Grewal, confirming the deceased was Rahul Jain, an IIT Roorkee alumnus whose death was mistakenly linked to Grewal. Grewal, who gained fame at Maha Kumbh, was reportedly seen in Mathura and Vrindavan.

IIT Baba Death Rumour Is Abhay Singh Grewal Dead or Alive Here s The Truth

Posts doing the rounds online claim that a body was found in a bedroom in Hisar and link the incident to IITian Baba. Some posts have even claimed that Abhay Singh was the person who had died.

This became a hot-topic of trending as the baba had become a house-hold name after his appearance at the Maha Kumbh. The rumours appears to have started with the death of a man named Rahul Jain, whose body was found at his home in the PLA area of Hisar three days ago, according to a report in News18.

IIT Baba Death Hoax

Jain, 35, was a resident of Hisar and had studied at IIT Roorkee. He was also involved in online coaching. It was apparently his IIT connection that led to his death being wrongly linked to the man popularly known as IITian Baba.

IIT Baba is not dead

Reports about the incident were subsequently shared on social media with references to IITian Baba and claims about a body being found in a bedroom.

What Did Hisar Police Say?

Hisar Police has now shot down the rumours. The Police social media in-charge Amarinder Singh said the deceased was Rahul Jain and that he had no connection with Abhay Singh Grewal.

Speaking to the IANS, he said, Amarinder Singh said, “Around three days ago, the body of a man named Rahul Jain, a resident of Hisar, was found at his house in the PLA area. Following this, misleading reports are being circulated on social media claiming that the body of IIT Baba was found in a bedroom. This news is completely false. We urge the public not to spread or make such misleading news viral…”

Abhay Singh Grewal, a Jhajjar native, studied at IIT Bombay before working in Canada and elsewhere. He later turned towards spirituality and rose to fame during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

He has since continued to share spiritual content through his Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts.
