The BJP has launched a strong attack on National Conference president Farooq Abdullah over his remarks on Kashmir, accusing the veteran politician of supporting Pakistan’s narrative. The controversy has intensified after Abdullah questioned the Indian government’s intentions towards Kashmiris and credited Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts with helping their concerns reach a global audience.

BJP leaders strongly criticized National Conference president Farooq Abdullah’s remarks on Kashmir, accusing him of supporting Pakistan’s narrative and insulting Indians after the abrogation of Article 370. They highlighted improved tourism and economic conditions as evidence of the region’s progress.
BJP Says Article 370 Removal Helped Kashmir
Reacting to Abdullah’s comments, BJP national spokesperson RP Singh asked him to look at the condition of Kashmiris living across the border in Pakistan.
“Kashmir is doing well here because Article 370 was abrogated and Kashmir was fully integrated with India. That’s why two crore tourists visit Kashmir (every year). That’s why Kashmir is doing economically well,” Singh told news agency IANS.
The BJP spokesperson argued that the removal of Article 370, which granted Jammu and Kashmir special status, had strengthened its integration with India. He also pointed to tourist arrivals and economic activity to support his argument.
BJP Leader Accuses NC Of Supporting Pakistan
BJP national council member Yamini Sharma also criticised Abdullah, claiming his remarks insulted the Indian Constitution and the people of Jammu and Kashmir who support India.
“Farooq Abdullah’s statement on Jammu and Kashmir deeply insults the Indian Constitution and the patriotic people of Jammu and Kashmir. Everyone knows that thousands of people lost their lives in the valley due to cross-border terrorism. The National Conference has become a mouthpiece for Pakistan,” she said.
Sharma referred to the deaths caused by cross-border terrorism while accusing the National Conference of echoing Pakistan’s position on the region.
BJP MLA Demands Apology, Calls For Sedition Case
BJP MLA Yudhvir Sethi also condemned Abdullah’s statement, describing it as anti-India and pro-Pakistan. He demanded an apology from the National Conference chief and called for legal action against those making remarks against the country.
“Those speaking against the nation must face the sedition case. The world knows that Pakistan is behind the spread of terrorism and bloodshed in Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, such remarks made in favour of Pakistan are condemnable. Farooq Abdullah must apologise for it,” he added.
The row has brought fresh attention to the political divide over Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the debate surrounding Article 370, Pakistan’s role in the region and the treatment of Kashmiris by the Indian government.
