Bengaluru commuters using the Peenya flyover will have to brace for disruption this week. The flyover will remain closed for three days starting May 5 as maintenance work is taken up on the stretch.
The closure is expected to impact traffic movement along Tumakuru Road, especially for those travelling towards Nelamangala and the Peenya industrial area. This stretch handles a large volume of daily traffic, including heavy vehicles and office commuters, which means delays are likely during peak hours.
Bengaluru’s Peenya flyover will be closed for three days starting May 5 for maintenance, causing traffic disruptions on Tumakuru Road and diverting vehicles to service roads. Traffic police will manage diversions, and commuters are advised to plan routes and allow extra travel time.

Traffic police said the repair work is necessary as the flyover has seen continuous heavy usage over the years. Resurfacing and fixing worn-out sections are part of the plan to improve safety and driving conditions.
During the closure, vehicles will be diverted to the service roads below the flyover. These roads already see steady traffic, so congestion is expected to build up, particularly in the morning and evening.
Officials said traffic personnel will be deployed at major junctions to manage movement and reduce bottlenecks. Commuters are being advised to plan their routes in advance and allow extra travel time.
Those who can are being encouraged to use public transport for the next few days to reduce pressure on the corridor.
The Peenya flyover connects Bengaluru to its northern outskirts and remains an important route for both daily travel and goods movement. With the temporary closure in place, managing traffic flow will be a challenge until the work is completed. Authorities have said the repairs will be finished within the scheduled time and the flyover will be reopened soon after.
