Jana Nayagan 1st Day Box Office Collection: Vijay’s Film Takes Solid Opening

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s latest movie Jana Nayagan is off to a flying start at the box office. The movie hit the screens to a gigantic expectations on Thursday and opened to fairly positive reviews.

Released in close to 12,000 shows, Jana Nayagan is expected to set new benchmarks at the Tamil Nadu box office. It has over 3500 shows in the state alone.

The advance booking of tickets met with a great response as 1..82 lakh tickets were sold on Book My Show before its release, according to Sacnilk data. The worldwide pre-sales is estimated to be around Rs 48 crore.

Nikilesh Surya, who manages Rohini Silver Screen, said in a post: “#Jananayagan enters this year’s TOP 5 movies so far just with its advance ticket sales. RECORD MAKER 🔥🎉Jananayagan almost all shows in the @RohiniSilverScr Main Screen sold out for Monday already. True.”

The majority of the shows ran into packed houses in Tamil Nadu. The nation-wide occupancy rate at cinema halls for the Tamil 2D version stood at 73.85%.

Outside Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru and Kochi recorded 55%. The report notes that in a matter of an hour between 11 am and 12 pm, 34200 tickets were sold on Book My Show. Today, 1.42 lakh tickets have been sold.

The morning occupancy for the Tamil (2D) version has been extraordinary, recording an overall 73.85% across India. Major hubs in Tamil Nadu are effectively running housefull, with Salem at 99%, Chennai at 98%, and Coimbatore at 97%. Even in markets like Bengaluru and Kochi, the occupancy is holding strong at 55%.

Trade trackers are predicting the movie to mint around Rs 60 crore at the worldwide box office. Vijay’s earlier movie Leo had earned Rs 64.80 crore while Rajinikanth’s Coolie had raked in Rs 65 crore.

It is expected to hit a century at the worldwide box office on day 1.
