Delhi is on high alert after intelligence agencies warned of possible improvised explosive device attacks at important sites, prompting a citywide security upgrade. Delhi Police increased checks at sensitive spots and crowded public areas, responding to recent arrests that exposed a terror module linked to Pakistan-based handlers, according to sources familiar with the inputs.
Officials said the alert flagged the risk of IED strikes at key installations across the capital, including locations with heavy daily movement. Security forces at these spots have been told to stay vigilant, as sources indicated that personnel themselves could be among the potential targets identified by the planners.
Delhi is on high alert with amplified security measures against potential IED attacks at sensitive locations, following the bust of a Pakistan-linked terror module involving nine arrests and plans for targeted killings, potentially including BJP offices and a Hisar military camp.

Delhi security alert tied to busted Pakistan-linked terror module
The latest warning follows a Special Cell operation in which Delhi Police dismantled a module allegedly connected to Pakistani gangster-terror operative Shahzad Bhatti, who is suspected to act on instructions from Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Nine individuals were arrested, and investigators said the group was preparing targeted killings in Delhi and nearby areas.
During questioning, officers learned that members of the group allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several high-profile sites, including a major temple in the capital. Sources said videos of these locations were reportedly sent to handlers across the border, and plans focused on creating panic and disruption rather than only single-target attacks.
Delhi security heightened at party offices and strategic locations
After the intelligence alert, police launched wide checking drives at strategic points across Delhi, installing extra barricades and boosting deployment in sensitive zones. Security was tightened outside the Delhi BJP state office and the BJP national headquarters, where teams inspected vehicles and visitors while maintaining steady patrols around the surrounding roads and lanes.
Sources said the disrupted module had allegedly planned to attack security personnel deployed at the Delhi temple. The idea was to open fire on police and paramilitary staff to spread fear among worshippers. Another assignment reportedly involved a grenade strike on a popular dhaba along the busy Delhi–Sonipat highway to cause high casualties and serious damage.
| Planned / Surveyed Location | Alleged Intended Action | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Prominent temple in Delhi | Firing on security personnel | Targeting police and paramilitary to trigger chaos among visitors |
| Dhaba on Delhi–Sonipat highway | Grenade attack | Chosen due to heavy daily footfall |
| Military camp in Hisar | Surveillance | Videos allegedly shared with handlers |
| Police stations in Uttar Pradesh | Potential targets | Included on alleged target list |
According to a source quoted by news agency PTI, “A military camp in Hisar was also allegedly surveyed and videos of the area were shared with handlers across the border. Some police stations in Uttar Pradesh were also on the target list,” underlining the wider security concerns beyond Delhi linked to the same network.
