Chennai Super Kings made a special appeal to fans ahead of their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, asking supporters to maintain the focus on cricket and avoid bringing political banners or flags into the stadium.
The request from CSK comes as Chennai prepares for a unique Sunday, with the IPL match coinciding with Vijay taking oath as the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Given the massive fan following enjoyed by both Chennai Super Kings and Vijay, the franchise urged fans to celebrate the game in the spirit of “Yellove.”
Chennai Super Kings requested fans avoid political banners during their IPL 2026 match against Lucknow Super Giants at Chepauk, as the game coincides with TN CM Vijay’s oath ceremony. CSK needs a win to improve its playoff chances.

“Anbuden request our superfans to avoid bringing banners, flags, or hoardings associated with any political party/person and enjoy the game with full Yellove,” CSK posted on social media ahead of the match.
The appeal highlights the franchise’s effort to keep the atmosphere at Chepauk centred around IPL 2026 cricket as thousands of fans are expected to turn up for the high-stakes contest. The MA Chidambaram Stadium is likely to witness a packed crowd as CSK continue their push for a playoff place.
On the field, Chennai Super Kings enter the match in a must-win situation. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side is currently placed sixth in the IPL 2026 points table and remains firmly in the race for a top-four finish. A victory against Lucknow Super Giants could significantly strengthen CSK’s playoff hopes.

Despite showing flashes of brilliance this season, Chennai Super Kings have struggled with consistency, especially in the batting department. However, with experienced players such as M.S. Dhoni, Shivam Dube and Noor Ahmad in the squad, CSK will be confident of delivering under pressure at their home ground.
Lucknow Super Giants, meanwhile, are fighting to stay alive in the tournament after a disappointing campaign. The Rishabh Pant-led side sits near the bottom of the standings and faces a difficult challenge against a motivated CSK outfit at Chepauk.
With playoff pressure mounting and emotions running high in Chennai, the CSK vs LSG clash promises to be one of the biggest IPL 2026 matches of the season.
