US President Donald Trump on Sunday sharply criticised Iran, accusing the country of “playing games” with the United States and the international community for decades. His comments came amid reports that Tehran had responded to Washington’s latest peace proposal aimed at reducing tensions and ending the ongoing conflict in the region.
Former President Donald Trump accused Iran of playing games for 47 years and criticized Obama’s JCPOA deal, while Iran reportedly responded to a US peace proposal addressing regional tensions and Strait of Hormuz shipping.
Trump made the remarks through a post on his Truth Social platform, where he claimed that Iran had repeatedly delayed serious negotiations over the years.
Trump Says Iran Has ‘Mocked’ America For Years
In his social media post, Trump accused Iran of misleading the world and taking advantage of previous US administrations.
“Iran has been playing games with the United States, and the rest of the world, for 47 years,” Trump wrote.
He further claimed that Tehran had mocked America for years and warned that the situation would soon change.
“They will be laughing no longer,” the US President added in the strongly worded statement.
The comments have once again highlighted the tense relationship between Washington and Tehran, which has remained strained for decades over nuclear concerns, sanctions and regional conflicts.
Trump Targets Barack Obama Over Iran Nuclear Deal
During his remarks, Trump also criticised former US President Barack Obama and blamed his administration for strengthening Iran economically and politically.
Trump claimed that Obama had given Iran “a major and very powerful new lease on life.”
His comments were linked to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal, which was signed in 2015 during the Obama administration.

Trump’s statement came shortly after Iranian state media reported that Tehran had officially responded to a recent US peace proposal.

Iran’s response reportedly focused on several major concerns, including ending the conflict across all fronts and ensuring safe shipping movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes and has become a key point of tension amid the ongoing crisis in West Asia.
Pakistan Reportedly Helped In Communication
According to Reuters, a Pakistani official stated that Islamabad helped pass Iran’s response to the United States.
Pakistan has reportedly been involved in mediation efforts linked to the ongoing conflict and diplomatic discussions.
However, the US government has not yet officially commented on Tehran’s response to the peace proposal.
