Delhi has a new plan for World Environment Day 2026. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta set a large green target. The city aims to plant 15 lakh trees this year. This step helps make the capital greener. The government has already started this process.

Delhi aims to plant 15 lakh trees and create 100 Namo Oxygen Parks, launching 18 today as part of its World Environment Day 2026 green initiative, which also includes the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and road carpeting for better air quality.
The Chief Minister joined Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav today. They launched the first 18 ‘Namo Oxygen Parks’. The project began in Maangarhi. This event marks a major push for Delhi’s nature. The leaders stressed the need for protection and growth.
The government plans to build 100 oxygen parks total. This is a key part of their green vision. These parks provide clean air in busy urban areas. The pilot for 18 parks is now active. They aim for a cleaner environment for every citizen.
Each park will get a local care committee. People living nearby will manage these spaces. This helps with planting and daily water needs. The Chief Minister highlighted the role of local people. Community support keeps these green zones safe and healthy.

The government also promotes the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign. This was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Citizens are urged to join this movement. Every person should plant a tree for their mother. It promotes a greener Delhi for years ahead.
Authorities are not waiting for the pollution season. They are planning ahead to tackle dust. One strategy is wall-to-wall carpeting on city roads. This will reduce dust and improve air quality. It is a main part of the current control plan.
The ultimate success depends on the people of Delhi. Government schemes work best with public participation. Youth and local residents must join the effort. This shared responsibility will ensure a cleaner capital. The new campaign is a vital step for Delhi.
