Police in Varanasi detained three Cockroach Janata Party members on Saturday for allegedly attempting to burn an effigy of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during a protest against alleged examination irregularities.

The incident took place in the Cantonment area, where protesters had gathered to express their anger over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment tests. The demonstration is part of a broader campaign being carried out by the online youth-led movement known as the Cockroach Janata Party.

Protesters Gather With Banners And Placards

According to police, the demonstrators assembled outside Indira Bal Bihar carrying banners and placards critical of the Education Minister.

The protesters raised slogans and displayed messages demanding accountability over alleged issues linked to various examinations and recruitment processes. The gathering drew attention from passers-by and local authorities.

Police Intervene Before Effigy Burning

Officials said that around 11 am, some of the protesters allegedly began preparations to burn an effigy of Dharmendra Pradhan.

After receiving information about the situation, Station House Officer (Cantt) Sanjay Singh reached the location along with a police team. The officers intervened before the effigy could be set on fire.

Police then detained three individuals who were allegedly involved in organising the act.

Three Protesters Taken Into Custody

The detained individuals were identified as Rajat Chaudhary, Mohammad Afzal and Ankit Kumar.

All three were taken to the local police station for questioning. Following the police action, the remaining protesters left the area and the gathering dispersed peacefully.

Authorities said the situation remained under control and no major disturbance was reported.

Legal Proceedings Initiated

Police have initiated proceedings against the detained individuals under preventive provisions related to maintaining public order and preventing a breach of peace.
Officials stated that further legal action would be taken in accordance with the law after reviewing the circumstances surrounding the protest.

What Is The Cockroach Janata Party?

The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) is an online youth-led movement that has recently gained attention through campaigns focused on education-related issues.

The group has been demanding accountability over alleged irregularities in major examinations and recruitment tests, including NEET, CBSE-related exams, CUET and SSC recruitment examinations.

Supporters of the movement argue that repeated controversies surrounding competitive exams have affected the future of students and job aspirants across the country.

Growing Attention Around CJP Protests

The detention comes at a time when the Cockroach Janata Party has been organising demonstrations and social media campaigns in several places, calling for reforms in the education and recruitment systems.

Recent protests have attracted support from students, youth groups and activists who say greater transparency and accountability are needed in examination processes.

While the movement continues to gain visibility, authorities have stressed that all protests must remain peaceful and follow legal procedures.
