P Radha Gayatri, a 27-year-old software engineer, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday (June 15). The newlywed couple originally from Vishakapatanam in Andhra Pradesh had checked into the homestay on the Mussoorie-Dhanaulti Road near Uttarakhand on the night of June 14.
The victim was on a holiday with her husband Soumya Shricharan. The couple had tied the knot on November 8, 2025, and their families originally hail from Visakhapatnam.

Detailing on the timeline of the incident. The trip had begun like any normal holiday, with the couple traveling from Delhi to Uttarakhand on Saturday (June 13). They spent a quiet day in Rishikesh before driving up the winding roads to Mussoorie on Sunday night (June 14). By 11:30 PM, they checked into a homestay named Bliss.
At 1:36 AM on Monday (June 15), Soumya Sricharan and Radha Gayatri sent a selfie from their Mussoorie vacation to Gayatri’s father P. Sudhakar. Waking up later that morning at his Visakhapatnam home, Sudhakar smiled and shared the photo with his wife unaware of the tragedy unfolding miles away.
According to Sricharan’s statement to the police, the couple had consumed alcohol that night before going to sleep around 3:30 am. However, hours after waking up at around 8 am, Sricharan witnessed a disturbing scene. He told that his wife Gayatri was found lying unconscious on the floor of the room with blood coming from her mouth and nose. He then immediately alerted the homestay people but by the time medical services arrived and they tried to resuscitate her in the ambulance, Gayatri was declared dead.
Gayatri, a software engineer originally from Visakhapatnam, had been living with her in-laws in Delhi’s Kidwai Nagar following her wedding, commuting to her job at an IT firm in Gurugram. Her husband Sricharan, also a techie was based in Pune. According to Sricharan’s father, Durga Prasad, whose family had relocated from Visakhapatnam to Delhi in 1989, the couple was introduced by a mutual connection i.e Gayatri’s friend and Sricharan’s cousin.
“She was working in Hyderabad and he in Pune,” Prasad said. “When they got acquainted, they informed us, and they got married. Their engagement ceremony was in October 2025 and in November the duo had their wedding.
Following the November 2025 nuptials, Gayatri moved to Delhi and quickly secured her position in Gurugram.
Around 7:30 AM, police received an emergency call from the homestay reporting that a female guest was unconscious. Devendra Chauhan, station officer of the Mussoorie police station said that a police team rushed to the scene and called an ambulance, but medical personnel officially declared Gayatri dead upon examining her. Police had found her naked body on the floor with blood coming from her mouth and nose, and noted bloodstains on the bedsheet. A forensic team swept the room, seizing two empty liquor bottles and used glasses and several strips of prescription medications.
While initial observations revealed no signs of a physical struggle or external violence, the exact cause of death remains undetermined.
A post-mortem examination performed on Tuesday (June 16) at a district hospital in Dehradun confirmed there were no external injury marks. To check for toxic substances, doctors have preserved her viscera for forensic analysis. Mussoorie Circle Officer Jagdish Pant noted that these chemical reports will be vital to ascertaining what she consumed before her death while investigators are also looking into her medical history noting she had been receiving ongoing treatment for low blood pressure.
The incident has devastated Gayatri’s family, who were expecting the newlyweds in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday to celebrate her father’s birthday. Her father P. Sudhakar, a retired Army man, recalled having a pleasant phone call with the couple on Sunday evening. While no formal criminal complaint has been filed yet, Sudhakar has submitted an official application demanding a rigorous inquiry. Authorities maintain that definitive conclusions will only be drawn once the post-mortem and toxicological reports are finalised.
