The Chennai City Police were sent into a frenzy on Monday morning following a fresh bomb threat targeting the residence of veteran actress Trisha Krishnan in Teynampet.

The incident is the latest in a troubling wave of swatting and hoax threats aimed at South Indian cinema’s biggest stars and high-security government installations.

Popular actress Trisha’s Chennai residence received a bomb threat on Monday. Investigations by authorities subsequently confirmed the threat to be a hoax.

Bomb Threat To Trisha Krishnan s House In Chennai

At approximately 9:30 AM, the Director General of Police (DGP) Control Room received an alarming email claiming that an explosive device had been planted at Trisha’s home and was set to detonate imminently.

The Teynampet police acted immediately, deploying a specialized Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with sniffer dogs. For several hours, security personnel conducted a room-by-room sweep of the premises. By midday, officials officially declared the threat a hoax, confirming that no suspicious items were found.

A Pattern of Panic

This incident is not an isolated case. Chennai has been gripped by a series of digital threats over the past week:

The Poes Garden Threats: Just 48 hours prior, similar emails targeted the residences of superstars Rajinikanth and Dhanush. Police spent over five hours combing through their Poes Garden properties before clearing them.

Previous Incidents: This marks the second time in six months that Trisha has been targeted; a similar telephonic hoax occurred in October 2025.

Institutional Targets: Authorities noted that the Governor’s Mansion (Raj Bhavan), the Chief Minister’s Office, and the BJP state headquarters have also been subjected to recent false alarms.

The Cyber Crime Wing of the Chennai Police has launched a priority investigation to trace the origin of the emails. While the perpetrators often use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) and encrypted mail services to mask their identities, investigators are working with service providers to track the IP addresses involved. A formal case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation and providing false information to a public servant.

On the work front, Trisha will be seen in Chiranjeevi’s next movie Vishwambhara, Suriya-starrer Karuppu and in the second installment of her critically acclaimed investigative thriller series Brinda 2 on Sony LIV.
