The Delhi High Court has directed the central government to take immediate and necessary calls to protect the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk who has been on hunger strike since 19 days. Sonam Wangchuk who is popular for raising social issues joined Cockroach Janata Party’s protest against Union Education Minster Dharmendra Pradhan, the court in support of Wangchuk said that the government should take every effort to save his life.

The Delhi High Court directed the central government to take immediate necessary action to protect the health of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a 19-day hunger strike, ordering that all efforts be made to save his life through medical intervention.
Court Expresses Concern Over Wangchuk’s Health
While hearing the matter of Sonam Wangchuk, Delhi High Court said that central government should provide medical assistance to Wangchuk. The court also mentioned that every citizen’s life is precious and it should be saved without any delay.
“Whatever medical intervention is needed to save Sonam Wangchuk’s life should be done by the government. We note that the life of any citizen is precious… and all efforts ought to be made by government authorities to save the same,” the court ordered.
Plea Warns of Serious Health Risk
The Delhi High Court was hearing the petition filed for the serious safety concerns for Sonam Wangchuk’s health getting down everyday. According to the petition, Sonam Wangchuk may not survive the next 48 hours if he continue doing fast without taking any medical support.
The petition was urged to court to take any action against the unseriousness of looking at Sonam Wangchuk, which is affecting his life and request any medical assistance for him.
Petition Accuses Government of Inaction
The petition also focused on how government is not reacting and responding to the situation, the petition claimed that no authority has tried to help Sonam Wangchuk despite his health is going down. The petitioner said that government is “least concerned and insensitive” in this matter.
The petition also mentioned that court should take action and allow force-feeding if necessary to save Sonam Wangchuk’s life. Now with this order of High Court, all the pressure is on government to respond and give all required medical help to Sonam Wangchuk.
