Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated by farmers for the historic farm loan waiver decision
Maharashtra BJP President Ravindra Chavan strongly praised Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the state government’s farm loan waiver decision. Chavan said that Fadnavis is a leader who has consistently stood by farmers and every section of society during both good times and difficult times.
“Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is a leader who always stands with farmers and every section of society in their joys and hardships. He does not merely announce welfare schemes but personally visits villages, understands the challenges faced by farmers, and takes concrete decisions to address them. That is why the farming community across Maharashtra stands firmly behind Devabhau and the Mahayuti government,” Chavan said.
He was addressing a felicitation ceremony organised by the BJP Kisan Morcha to honour Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for the historic farm loan waiver announcement.
Speaking at the event, Chavan highlighted several key initiatives undertaken by the state government for the welfare of farmers. He said that the construction of farm and rural access (Panand) roads, the Jalyukt Shivar water conservation campaign, the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technology in agriculture, and the provision of free daytime electricity to agricultural pumps have significantly improved the lives of farmers. He added that the benefits of the government’s farmer-centric policies are now reaching villages across Maharashtra.
During the programme, BJP State General Secretary and MLA Sanjay Kute proposed a formal felicitation of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on behalf of farmers across the state. The proposal received unanimous support from the gathering, with farmers raising their hands in approval as chants of “Devabhau” echoed throughout the venue.
Accepting the honour, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he viewed the event not merely as a felicitation ceremony but as an opportunity to directly interact with farmers.
“We did not take the decision on the farm loan waiver keeping elections in mind. We took this decision because the welfare of farmers is our highest priority. Farmers’ welfare is not a political issue for us; it is our responsibility. Many believed that the government would not implement a loan waiver and that farmers would have to launch agitations. But this is the Mahayuti government—this is Devabhau’s government for farmers,” Fadnavis said.
The Chief Minister also announced that all agricultural pumps with a capacity of up to 7.5 horsepower (HP) will receive free electricity during daytime hours. In addition, the government will waive outstanding electricity dues amounting to ₹48,000 crore related to these agricultural connections.
“We want to free farmers from the burden of old loans and pending electricity bills so that they can begin a new chapter with renewed confidence and create a brighter future,” he said.
The enthusiastic participation of farmers at the programme reflected the growing confidence and satisfaction among the farming community regarding the initiatives being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
Among those present at the event were Agriculture Minister Dattatray Bharane, Tribal Development Minister Ashok Uike, BJP Kisan Morcha National General Secretary and MP Anil Bonde, MLAs Randhir Savarkar, Pravin Darekar, BJP State General Secretary and MLA Sanjay Kute, BJP Maharashtra Mahila Morcha President and MLA Chitra Wagh, BJP Maharashtra Kisan Morcha President Ramkrishna Vetal, along with several other legislators, BJP office-bearers, party workers, and a large number of farmers.
