Originally slated for release in the first week of April, the film was pushed to a later date owing to the Middle East crisis. The makers reportedly decided against an early release to avoid affecting the film’s prospects in Gulf countries, home to a massive Malayali population and a key overseas market for Malayalam cinema.
However, the delay appears to have worked in the film’s favour. The buzz surrounding the movie has only intensified, with advance bookings witnessing a strong surge both in India and overseas.
International pre-sales for opening day and premiere screenings have already crossed the $75,000 mark, while total weekend bookings abroad have touched nearly $115,000. In Kerala and other domestic centres, the film has reportedly earned more than Rs 2 crore through advance sales alone, signalling exceptional audience interest weeks ahead of release.
Trade analysts believe Drishyam 3 could rewrite box office history for Malayalam cinema. The massive success of the first two instalments has created enormous curiosity around how the saga will finally conclude.

The Drishyam franchise revolves around Georgekutty, an ordinary cable TV operator whose intelligence and calm thinking help him protect his family after an accidental crime involving the son of a high-ranking police officer.
