Mumbai water cut: BMC maintenance work and tunnel project details
The Mumbai water cut has been planned so engineers can connect crucial tunnels and pipelines. The works include bringing into service the water tunnel stretching from Amar Mahal, at Hedgewar Udyan, to Wadala’s Pratiksha Nagar, Paral under the AMT-1 section, Trombay Reservoir under AMT-2, and the Turbhe High Level Reservoir.
Within this project, a 1800 mm diameter pipeline feeding the Turbhe High Level Reservoir will be joined to another 1800 mm line. Additional supporting tasks will also be carried out. The corporation has confirmed that the 1800 mm Turbhe High Level channel and the 1200 mm Turbhe Low Level channel will stay closed during the maintenance period.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has urged residents in all affected pockets to plan ahead. The advisory states, “Citizens of the concerned departments should store the required amount of water in advance. Water should be used sparingly during the shutdown period.” Officials expect normal supply patterns to resume once the 30-hour window ends.
The corporation has repeated its appeal for careful use of stored water and stressed that the shutdown is essential for the Water Supply Project. The article, except for the headline, was not edited by The Daily Jagran staff and was carried from a syndicated ANI feed, reflecting the official information shared by municipal authorities.
