Suniel Shetty has shared a small family story involving his granddaughter Evaarah, saying the 15-month-old has developed an unusual morning habit linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The actor, who often speaks warmly about becoming a grandfather, said Evaarah recognises Modi’s photograph and offers a ladoo to it during her daily routine at home.
Speaking in an interview with Times Now, Suniel said the child was first told about the Prime Minister by one of her nannies at an airport. Since then, he said, she has started identifying him in photographs. The actor described the moment as innocent and spontaneous, adding that neither he nor Evaarah’s parents had taught her to do it.

Suniel said Evaarah opens a Sai Baba book at home that also has a photograph of Modi. According to him, she points to the picture and says “Modi ji” before bringing a ladoo from the Ganpati idol and offering it to the photograph. The actor called the routine a sign of the child’s fascination with the leader.
“I have always said I am a huge fan of him. I am not talking about a party; I am talking about a leader. If a leader excites me, he excites me. As much as I love my country, I love my man. There is something about him,” Suniel said during the conversation.
He added, “My granddaughter is 15 months old. Once, at the airport, one of her nannies told her about Modi ji. Now, every morning, she opens a Sai Baba book which also has a photo of Modi ji.” Recalling the offering, he said, “Woh Ganapati ji ki murti se ladoo leke aati hai aur unko khilaati hai.”
Suniel clarified that the family had not prompted the child to follow the ritual. “I did not ask her to do this, nor did her parents. There is something about him. There is something magical,” he said. His remarks have drawn attention because they combine a personal family anecdote with his long-stated admiration for Modi.
Who is Evaarah?
Evaarah is the daughter of actor Athiya Shetty and cricketer KL Rahul. The couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl, on 24 March 2025. They later revealed her name on KL Rahul’s birthday and said “Evaarah” means “Gift of God”.
Athiya and Rahul have kept their daughter largely away from public attention since her birth. The couple have shared only limited glimpses of her on social media and have avoided revealing her face. The decision is in line with the approach many celebrity parents now take to protect their children’s privacy.
Suniel, however, has spoken frequently about the happiness Evaarah has brought into the family.
