Team India started the England ODI Series with a easy win of six-wicket at Edgbaston, it was a relief win for India after their continuous losses in the whole UK tour, after getting defeated from Ireland and England in T20 series. As soon the fans were happy with this win soon they have got reason to worry about. Indian skipper Shubman Gill and pacer Gurnoor Brar have faced a injury in the first ODI which make difficult for them to play in second ODI.

India defeated England by six wickets in the first ODI at Edgbaston following captain Shubman Gill’s 80-run knock, but both Gill and bowler Gurnoor Brar sustained injuries, creating selection dilemmas for the upcoming second ODI.
Gill’s Injury Raises Big Concern
Shubman Gill played the most important inning in the first ODI of crucial 80 runs knock of 75 balls, which helped India to chase 269 runs comfortably. Although, Shubman Gill Retired Hurt in the 26th over when he was seen holding his right leg in pain. Shubman retired on 80 runs and Washington Sundar replaced him on crease.
Till now there’s no serious update about the injury of Shubman Gill and if the injury seems serious Ishan Kishan will replace him in the second ODI. He may open with Rohit Sharma in the second ODI, while Shreyas Iyer could lead Indian team.
Gurnoor Brar Also Leaves Field Injured
Not just Shubman Gill, also Gurnoor Brar was seen injured in the first match. The pace bowler Gurnoor Brar left the field when England was batting in 48th over. He was supposed to bowl 48th over but he suddenly stopped his run-up, physio came to check and he left the field. Then Axar Patel bowled the 48th over.
Now if Brar is also not fit for second match then Arshdeep Singh or Prince Yadav who has impressed everyone with his performance in T20 series could replace Brar.
India Begin ODI Series on Winning Note
Despite multiple injury concerns include Harshit Rana, India has started ODI series quite well and expected to continue it. Jasprit Bumrah who took a long break from ODI after 2023 ODI World Cup made a successful comeback in England ODI. He took crucial wicket of Harry Brook while just giving 31 runs in 9 overs.
However, experienced batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to impress in the first ODI as Rohit only scored 11 runs while Virat scored only 5 runs. The eyes are still on the experience of team India, as selectors have to take an important call before the world Cup.
India’s Likely XI for 2nd ODI
If Indian skipper Shubman Gill and pacer Gurnoor Brar are fit before the second ODI, then team India is going to play the second ODI with the same team. If they miss out due to injury, most probably Ishan Kishan and Prince Yadav will replace them in the squad.
