Teena Choudhry, whose confrontation with Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan during a traffic jam in Worli drew wide attention, has released a detailed video saying she is safe and stressing that the traffic chaos eventually eased after Girish Mahajan responded to her requests.

Teena Choudhry confirmed her safety after confronting Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan during a Worli traffic jam on April 21, stating Mahajan later instructed buses blocking the route to be moved, easing the congestion.
Choudhry said the viral clip led to many messages asking if there had been any backlash. In the video, Choudhry repeated, “I have received so many messages regarding my safety. I want to let you know that I’m fine and I appreciate the concern,” while thanking people for checking on her.
Teena Choudhry traffic incident timeline and location explained
Describing the sequence, Choudhry said the incident happened on 21 April, when Choudhry was returning after dropping a daughter at music class. The car became trapped near Mahindra Taj in a heavy snarl, which Choudhry said lasted almost 25 minutes before Choudhry decided to step out and seek answers.
According to Choudhry, the road remained clogged for nearly one-and-a-half hours. During this period, Choudhry said there were repeated appeals to several police personnel present, urging them to shift two buses that were allegedly blocking the way so that vehicles could turn around and access the main road again.

Choudhry’s account included a clarification about a moment from the viral footage where Choudhry was seen throwing a bottle to the ground. Choudhry said the action was meant to draw attention amid the noise and was not aimed at any protester, police officer, or person involved with the political rally.
Choudhry recalled the efforts with officials using these words: “When the traffic did not move, I got out to find out what the problem was… I went to every single police officer there to request that if you get the two buses removed, people who are stuck, we can make a U-turn and join the main road,” highlighting repeated appeals to clear the route.
In the same statement, Choudhry said that at first the pleas did not bring any change, but Girish Mahajan eventually responded. Choudhry said, “Mr Mahajan was actually the only person in that rally who at least tried to listen to what I was saying,” and added that the buses were later moved on Girish Mahajan’s instructions.
The reshuffled buses then allowed trapped motorists to turn and merge back on the main carriageway, Choudhry said. The original video that circulated widely had shown Choudhry arguing with officials at the site and questioning why a political event was being held on a route already packed with daily commuters.

The clip also captured Girish Mahajan nearby, speaking to the media on women’s reservation while the congestion continued. After the footage spread, Girish Mahajan issued an apology for the inconvenience, saying, “A woman walked up to me and appeared angry. It is evident she was upset with traffic congestion. I tried to pacify her and give her audience. I assured her that traffic problem would get resolved in 10 to 15 minutes,” while stressing that efforts were made to calm those stuck.
About the broader issue of rallies and jams, Girish Mahajan said the disruption was not deliberate and linked it to the nature of large gatherings. Girish Mahajan stated, “This is an issue not restricted to Mumbai alone. It has happened across country. About yesterday’s incident, there were several persons who were getting restless because of the traffic issue,” pointing out that such traffic problems occur in many cities during big events.

The updated video statement by Choudhry now places emphasis on two points: that Choudhry is safe despite the online spotlight, and that Girish Mahajan eventually helped resolve the traffic issue by acting on the request to move buses, which allowed several vehicles, including Choudhry’s, to finally clear the crowded Worli stretch.
