Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar was detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday while protesting alongside Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra against the alleged police brutality during the students’ ‘Sansad Chalo’ march on July 20 and the NEET UG Examination irregularities.

Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar, alongside Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, was detained by Delhi Police protesting against NEET UG irregularities and alleged police brutality during the ‘Sansad Chalo’ march outside Prime Minister Modi’s residence.
Informing that the protest was held outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence where not just Congress but former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav was also present with several other MPs. The leaders were later detained by Delhi Police and taken to Chhatrasal Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Oneindia after his detention, CM DK Shivakumar said the protest was peaceful and was organised to stand with students demanding accountability in the alleged NEET-UG paper leak controversy.

‘We Were Protesting Peacefully’
Speaking to Oneindia, DK Shivakumar said the demonstrators had not violated the law.
“It is unfair on the Delhi government. No one has misused the protest. We were peacefully protesting outside the Prime Minister’s residence. This protest is for the students of this country and for the youth of this country.”

He said the opposition would continue to raise the issue until justice is delivered to students.
“We will fight till our last breath. We want to protect them,” he said.
DK Shivakumar Confirms His Detention
When asked by Oneindia whether he had been detained by Delhi Police, Shivakumar confirmed the action.

“Yes, I have been detained,” he said.
He was then escorted into a police bus along with other detained leaders before being taken to Chhatrasal Stadium in north Delhi.
Several political leaders were detained including – Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, DK Shivakumar and others. Delhi Police detained the leaders citing security arrangements in the high-security area. They were later shifted to Chhatrasal Stadium.
The demonstration came a day after tensions escalated during the CJP’s “Sansad Chalo” march, where protesters alleged that police used force, including tear gas and lathi-charge, to stop them from marching towards Parliament.
NEET-UG Protest Continues to Grow
The NEET Protest started with the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) that gathers several students and parents demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister- Dharmendra Pradhan.
