The Tamil Nadu government is ready to announce the results of the Class 10 public examinations. The fate of over 9 lakh students will be declared on the official website of the Directorate of Government Examinations.

It will be declared on May 20, ending weeks of anticipation for more than nine lakh students across the state. It is reported that the board will announce the marks at 9.30 am on Wednesday.
The Tamil Nadu government will announce Class 10 public examination results for over 9 lakh students on May 20 at 9:30 AM, concluding exams held statewide from March 11 to April 6.
The announcement was confirmed by School Education Minister Rajmohan, who also provided updates on preparations for the upcoming academic year, including school reopening schedules and teacher training programmes.
How Many Students Wrote SSLC Exams in 2026?
The SSLC examinations were conducted from March 11 to April 6 at thousands of centres across Tamil Nadu. This year, a total of 9,09,002 candidates appeared for the exams. Among them were 8,82,806 students from 12,467 schools, 25,801 private candidates, and 395 prison inmates who took the examination under special arrangements. To ensure smooth conduct, the School Education Department established 4,219 examination centres statewide.
Authorities also implemented extensive support systems for students with special needs. Around 12,292 differently-abled candidates were provided with scribes and other forms of assistance to help them complete the examinations comfortably. More than 45,000 teachers were assigned examination duties, while over 4,800 flying squads monitored centres to prevent malpractice and ensure transparency during the exams.
Following the completion of the examinations, answer sheet evaluations were carried out at designated centres across Tamil Nadu. Officials recently concluded the valuation process and subsequently began uploading marks into the digital system. Over the last several days, departments have been engaged in final data verification, processing, and result preparation. With all procedures completed successfully, the government confirmed that the results are ready for release on May 20.
Students will be able to access their marks online immediately after the announcement by entering their registration number and date of birth on the official government portals. The declaration of results marks a crucial moment for students as it determines their eligibility and stream selection for higher secondary education.

When Will Schools Reopen In Tamil Nadu?
Alongside the examination update, the minister reiterated that schools across Tamil Nadu would reopen on June 1 after the summer vacation as per schedule. In preparation for the new academic session, teacher training programmes focusing on revised textbooks and curriculum updates will be conducted from June 1 to June 3. The government has recently introduced updated textbooks for students in Classes 1 to 3 as part of broader reforms aimed at strengthening foundational learning and improving primary education standards.
Tamil Nadu has consistently recorded strong Class 10 results over the past few years, with girls continuing to outperform boys in pass percentages. In 2023, the overall pass percentage stood at 91.39%, while in 2024 it slightly improved to 91.55%. Districts such as Perambalur, Sivagangai, Ariyalur, and Ramanathapuram emerged among the top-performing regions in recent years.
The 2025 examination results are also expected to reflect a strong performance trend. Preliminary data indicates that girls once again outperformed boys, recording a pass percentage of 95.88% compared to 91.74% among boys. Sivagangai district reportedly secured the top position with a pass percentage of 98.31%, followed by Virudhunagar, Thoothukudi, Kanniyakumari, and Tiruchirappalli.
With the results set to be announced shortly, students and parents across the state are eagerly awaiting one of the most significant academic milestones of the year.
