Delhi Metro commuters faced major inconvenience on Tuesday evening after a technical fault disrupted services on the Blue Line during peak office hours. The issue caused trains to run behind schedule, leaving passengers waiting for long periods at several stations and leading to overcrowding across one of the capital’s busiest metro corridors.
On Tuesday evening, a technical fault caused significant disruption to Delhi Metro’s Blue Line services between Anand Vihar and Vaishali, leading to delays and overcrowding during peak office hours for thousands of commuters.
The disruption began after a train stopped at Anand Vihar Metro Station, affecting movement between Anand Vihar and Vaishali. While the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) confirmed the disruption, it did not immediately reveal the exact cause of the technical fault.

DMRC Confirms Service Disruption On Blue Line
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation acknowledged the issue through a post on X, informing commuters that train services had been affected on a section of the Blue Line.
The agency posted, “Delay in train services on Blue Line due to technical issue between Anand Vihar and Vaishali. Normal services on all other lines.”
The disruption was limited to the Blue Line, while operations on all other Delhi Metro corridors continued as usual.
Why The Blue Line Disruption Had A Bigger Impact
The Blue Line is among the busiest routes in the Delhi Metro network, connecting Dwarka Sector 21 in west Delhi with Noida Electronic City and Vaishali in Uttar Pradesh. Thousands of office-goers depend on the corridor every day for travel between Delhi and Noida.
The line also provides direct access to Anand Vihar, a major transport hub that connects commuters to the railway station and the interstate bus terminal. Any disruption on this route, particularly during evening rush hours, can quickly result in overcrowding, longer travel times and inconvenience for passengers across Delhi and the National Capital Region.
Technical Issue Leaves Daily Commuters Stranded
Although the disruption lasted for around an hour, it significantly affected evening travel for thousands of commuters. Many passengers remained stranded on platforms as trains operated at reduced frequency.
The DMRC had not disclosed the precise reason behind the technical snag at the time of reporting. Normal services on the remaining Delhi Metro network continued without interruption, while affected commuters awaited the restoration of regular Blue Line operations.
