Hyderabad, July 6, 2026: MAMS Hospitals marked the birthday of its Managing Director and Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr. Puvvada Nayan Raj, by reaffirming its commitment to accessible healthcare through a series of welfare initiatives announced at Mamata Academy of Medical Sciences, Bachupally, Hyderabad. The hospital celebrated this occasion by highlighting its ongoing dedication to serving the community and providing advanced medical care to those in need, ensuring that quality treatment remains within reach for all sections of society.

As part of the hospital’s ongoing free healthcare programme for economically disadvantaged patients, MAMS Hospitals successfully completed more than 100 free Total Knee Replacement (TKR) surgeries, including over 40 surgeries performed under the latest phase of the initiative. The programme provides completely free knee replacement surgeries, including imported implants, to eligible patients suffering from severe knee disorders, helping them regain mobility and improve their quality of life.

Community Service and Healthcare Initiatives

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Puvvada Nayan Raj said that dedicating his birthday to community service gives him immense satisfaction. He noted that many patients continue to suffer from debilitating knee conditions because they cannot afford surgery. With the objective of ensuring that financial hardship does not prevent anyone from receiving advanced medical treatment, the hospital launched the free knee replacement programme and will continue to expand such initiatives in the future.

Dr. Nayan Raj also highlighted that since its inception, MAMS Hospitals has been providing free maternity kits to economically underprivileged mothers. Expanding the programme under the leadership of Executive Director Mrs. Puvvada Aparna Raj, the hospital now provides financial assistance of ₹5,000 for the birth of a baby boy and ₹6,000 for the birth of a baby girl to eligible families. The initiative aims to support mothers during childbirth, promote maternal and child welfare, and encourage the birth of the girl child.

Former Transport Minister and Chairman of Mamata Educational Society, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, said that the Society has always believed that quality education and quality healthcare should be accessible to every deserving individual. He added that such community welfare initiatives will continue to be expanded in the coming years.

Dr. Brigadier P.S.K. Patel, Superintendent of MAMS Hospitals, said that the free knee replacement programme is being implemented in accordance with international standards. He stated that the hospital’s experienced orthopaedic surgeons, anaesthesia specialists, nursing staff and physiotherapy team work in close coordination to deliver high-quality patient care, and expressed pride in being part of an initiative that brings meaningful change to society.

The programme was attended by Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Dr. Puvvada Nayan Raj, Mrs. Puvvada Aparna Raj, Dr. Brigadier P.S.K. Patel, doctors, nursing staff, physiotherapists, administrative officials, hospital employees, public representatives, eminent citizens and members of the media.
