US President Donald Trump drew much interest during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on Sunday. Spain managed to defeat Argentina 1-0 after extra time and raised the trophy, however, Trump presence at MetLife Stadium created much discussion during night.
Donald Trump’s arrival at the stadium was via helicopter and afterward he moved to the VIP area of the stadium. When the match began, cameras started capturing Trump and showed him on the big screen causing mixed reactions among the audience.
Donald Trump attended the FIFA World Cup 2026 final at MetLife Stadium, where Spain beat Argentina 1-0 after extra time; Trump received mixed crowd reactions when shown on screen and held the FIFA trophy alongside President Gianni Infantino.
While some fans stood up and applauded his appearance other booed him.
Although he was faced with jeers, the noise was much lower compared to that at other sporting events where he made an appearance in the last few years.
Before the trophy was presented, Trump was invited to go and stand near FIFA president Gianni Infantino and was given the FIFA trophy to hold for a few minutes before it was handed to Spain footballers.
During the match, Trump was sitting next to the FIFA president who called Trump his friend. He even stood when USA anthem was played before the match began.
